Insect Shield® Technology
Craghoppers’ InsectShield® clothing uses a built-in, EPA-approved insect-repellent treatment made from permethrin, a compound originally derived from chrysanthemum flowers. The treatment is bonded into the fabric, helping protect you from biting insects such as mosquitoes, ticks and flies without the need for sprays or creams. Because the repellent is tightly woven into the fibers, it stays effective through many washes and lasts for the lifetime of the garment. It’s an added layer of protection for hiking, travel and any outdoor adventure.

How Insect Shield® Works

Step 1
Insect shield technology uses permethrin, an EPA-approved insecticide registered in 1979, which is a synthetic version of an ingredient found in the chrysanthemum flower.

Step 2
Permethrin is then chemically applied to our collection of insect deterrent Insect Shield® apparel & accessories.

Step 3
The result is a tested & proven bug defense alternative that effectively lasts the life of the garment.
